It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas

So what does Christmas look like?  Lights, trees, gifts?

How about the first Christmas, when Christ was born?

There was certainly a great light, and gifts.

But the greatest gift is Christ Himself, Who we celebrate.

Think about it.

For the first time in human history, God entered our world in such a way that we could literally interact with Him.

A Holy God can be pretty scary.

Maybe that’s why He came so humbly.  More important, He immediately declared His intentions toward us.

“Peace, goodwill toward men.”  He came to save us, to make a way for us to be with Him.

The beautiful thing is that we can celebrate the truth of Christmas every day since then.

This is why a life of prayer is so important.  It’s how we access this relationship God initiated at the first Christmas.

Prayer isn’t about getting something, it’s about being with Someone!

And isn’t it amazing that we can?

I pray this Christmas fills you with renewed wonder at the love of God Who came near, and that it looks like Emmanuel – “God with us.”
