“…and I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake.”

Philemon 1:6

Being as the title is a bit, well, ego centric, I thought I’d bring in some Bible to back up my case.

Far to often we focus on the negatives in life.

In ourselves.

In our relationships. Our workplace. Our nation.

I thought it’d challenge us to name good things about ourselves because, whether your believe in God or not, we are His workmanship.

So, five things I like about me (to the glory and praise of God!)

1. My hair. I’ve always had great, easy to maintain hair save the two years I succumbed to the “blow cut” in the early ’70s. I’m grateful.

2. My voice. I have a decent singing voice. While I never cared to perform, I’m grateful to be able to use my voice to lead worship.

3. My writing. I love, love, love that I get to write books and tell stories. I am so very blessed.

4. My easy-going personality. As one who struggled with anxiety, I’m very grateful to walk in peace and to embrace life as it comes. (Most of the time.)

5. My physicality. I’m not an athlete, athlete, but I can hang in a spin class. Hang with a P90X video. Run a couple of miles. I’m proud of that. 🙂

Now your turn. What five things do you like about yourself?

  1. Love the idea behind this post:)
My five things I like about myself:

    1. I can now consider myself a runner. I’ve always wanted this to be true about myself and now it is true.

    2. I can BAKE some cookies:)

    3. I’m an avid reader. I love reading and SHARING books with friends, students, anyone who will listen.

    4. I’m a natural-born teacher/learner. I love learning and teaching. I especially love coming up with creative/unconventional ways to teach a concept.

    5. My hair:) Like you, I have always had great hair – the kind that can be curly one day and stick straight the next. And it’s blonde, which I adore.

Thanks for encouraging other to look for the good in themselves. We too often focus on the bad like you said.
